Jason Kania is a University of Chicago MBA and the founder of Universal MED. Universal MED is a healthcare company that manages private physicians and a global network of specialists. These individuals treat UMED members 24×7, using a combination of high touch, in-person examinations and technology to provide comprehensive care, identify health risks and diagnose and prevent disease.
Jason offers the polish of an executive, the tenacity of a seasoned entrepreneur and the skills of an MBA. He is commonly characterized as a trusted advisor and collaborative leader, with an athlete’s stamina, who delivers in the face of ambiguity and limited resources. And, although Jason is an MBA and an executive, he enjoys rolling up his sleeves, navigating ambiguity and getting things done.
Prior to UMED, Jason founded Phoenix Management Consulting, a successful consultancy who continues to serve multi-national clients. He grew his consultancy to over forty consultants, and over twenty Fortune 500 clients. Jason incubated and launched technical products, implemented off-the-shelf and custom technologies, improved the performance of multinational sales organizations and increased back office efficiencies across ten different industries (including High Tech, Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Hospitality) in twenty different multi-national companies (including Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, Broadcom, Move.com, HCA, Pepsi and Intrawest).
In 2013, Jason exited PMC to pursue his passion for technology start-ups and an MBA at the University of Chicago. During his time at the university, he worked directly with the Dean of the Booth School of Business to enhance the New Venture Challenge, modify the Entrepreneurship curriculum, and organize a series of startup events like SEEDCON After Hours. He is a passionate entrepreneur and enjoys helping other entrepreneurs advance their business as a mentor, board member or interim manager.
Don’t hesitate to say “hello” when you see Jason cycling or snowboarding.
